Eastgate Shopping Centre is gearing up for the holiday season with one of its most charming experiences yet. Introducing Candy Cane Lane: a whimsical, joy-filled activation designed to bring Joburg an extra dose of sweetness this festive period. Running from 10 to 24 December in the Strelitzia Court, Candy Cane Lane will offer families a delightful space to enjoy interactive entertainment, tasty treats and creative activities. The experience will be open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, inviting visitors to soak up the magic all season long.
Visitors can indulge in reindeer-themed ice cream, test their skills at the North Pole claw machine, step into Rudolph’s Gaming Station or enjoy cheerful festive face painting. Each activity is designed to be light-hearted and fun, creating a relaxed, joyful atmosphere for guests of all ages. Entry is R50 per person, with tickets available directly at the activation area.
Two optional add-on experiences offer guests the chance to create something extra special to take home. At the Christmas Cottage, presented by Krispy Kreme and Lotus Biscoff, families can decorate a doughnut using a DIY kit filled with toppings and festive treats for R50. Nearby, the Sweet Wall bauble-making station gives visitors the opportunity to fill and design their own personalised sweet-filled bauble, also priced at R50, a perfect keepsake or thoughtful gift.
Additional to Candy Cane Lane, Eastgate has a vibrant array of festive activities planned to celebrate the season wholeheartedly across the centre. Photos with Santa will be available from 5 to 24 December in the Strelitzia Court next to Candy Cane Lane. Photography packages start at R200 and offer families a warm, thoughtful way to capture a moment together.
The gift-wrapping station, located in front of Krispy Kreme from 8 to 24 December, will once again help shoppers take home their gifts already beautifully wrapped so that nobody gets a peak before the big day. Costs vary depending on the size of the item and all proceeds will be donated to Merchants of Light, offering shoppers an easy way to embrace the spirit of giving during the holiday period.

Eastgate Shopping Centre will host Live Christmas Carols on selected evenings at the outdoor piazza, featuring a blend of classic carols, live musicians, dancers, ballerinas and a graceful skating act. Visitors can enjoy the performances from 6 PM on 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22, 23 and 24 December, with nearby restaurants such as Piatto, News Cafe, Zor, Comida, Gelato Mania and Pizza Hut offering the perfect view while dining. To give shoppers more time to find the perfect gifts, Eastgate will extend its trading hours from 12 to 23 December. Visitors can browse over 200 well-known brands, enjoy the centre’s dining options and explore entertainment attractions like Magic Company, IndyKart Go Karting, Road House Roller Rink, Ster-Kinekor and Air360.
