Grammy Award-winning producer and cultural icon, Zakes Bantwini, is bringing his global momentum home with the premiere of Golden Hour, an intimate new documentary produced by Corona Studios and directed by filmmaker & photographer, Maurice Koekemoer. Now available on YouTube, the film captures a remarkable chapter in Bantwini’s international journey as one of South Africa’s most influential artists continues to take the sound and spirit of African house music to the world.

The eight-minute film takes viewers behind the spectacle of his 2026 European tour, tracing a journey through Palma de Mallorca, Lisbon, Hamburg and Berlin. The crowds are electric, the stages international, but the story is unmistakably South African: an artist rooted in his heritage, helping define what contemporary African dance culture sounds like to the world.

In Mallorca, cameras capture Bantwini going back-to-back with fellow South African powerhouse Shimza. In Berlin, he connects with global DJ Diplo aboard a float at the massive Rave The Planet Parade. Between those highs are the moments fans rarely see: sailing through Hamburg, wandering Lisbon’s historic streets and taking a quiet breath and enjoying sunsets before showtime.

That pause is the heart of Golden Hour. Rather than another polished tour highlight reel, the documentary reveals the man behind the music, his creative discipline, and the ritual that keeps him grounded while the world moves to his sound. Rooted in This Is Living  philosophy, Golden Hour is both a portrait of an artist at his peak and a reminder that the greatest cultural movements are built through genuine connection and taking time to be present.

"Every city reminded me how far our music has travelled and how much more we have to share," says Zakes Bantwini. "Sharing stages and moments with artists like Shimza and Diplo was special, but I also wanted to appreciate the journey. Now it’s time to bring that energy back home and make this a summer filled with iconic sunsets South Africa will remember."

The strategic connector: Bringing people, culture and brands together to turn big ideas into meaningful partnerships and impactful experiences.

Fresh off hosting the inaugural Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) showcase with his record label, Mayonie Productions, Bantwini led a formidable lineup supporting rising South African Afro House talents including Samurai Yasusa, BlaqRhythm, and Thandi Draai. Their collective presence on the global stage reaffirmed Afro House's dominant influence on the international electronic music scene, with South African creativity actively shaping the conversation on a global scale.

This summer, Bantwini will take center stage across select dates on the Corona Sunsets Summer Tour nationwide, beginning at Menlyn Park Lawns in Pretoria on 21 November, before expanding across the border to Dimawe in Manyana, near Gaborone, on 12 December, and concluding at Manor House in Ballito on 19 December. He will also headline his flagship Mayonie Open Air Festival in Johannesburg on 29 November (with Corona as official beer partner).
