The R&B icon performed on August 7 as part of his Raymond & Brown Tour alongside Chris Brown, but it didn’t take long for fans in the crowd and online to start picking the performance apart. Viewers scrutinised everything from his facial features and body movements to his hands, with several pointing to what they believed was the absence of his signature hand tattoos as proof that the man performing wasn’t the real Usher.
The theory spread fast, with some fans even claiming the moment was strong enough grounds to demand refunds.

Usher didn’t let the conspiracy slide. Responding directly in the comments of a video posted to the tour’s official Instagram, he shut the rumours down with his signature humour: “Ya’ll are funny… clone? They can’t clone this??” He followed up with an even more pointed reply: “How ya’ll come up with this? AI ain’t that advanced.”
