ASAP Rocky is giving fans a rare, unfiltered look into his relationship with Rihanna, and the internet cannot get enough.
Ahead of his full sit-down on The Jason Lee Show, set to air Wednesday, a preview clip of the interview has already gone viral. In it, Rocky speaks candidly about how Rihanna has stood by him through some of the most difficult chapters of his life, long before the two became a couple.
“She really is a strong Black woman, and she held me down when I was at my lowest,” Rocky said in the clip, his voice noticeably emotional as he recalled specific moments.
He recalled two of his toughest moments: losing his father, and being locked up in Sweden. “Every time I’m at my lowest… she always there for me. That’s really my friend,” Rocky shared. He described one particularly raw memory from his debut album’s release, which coincided with his father’s death, when Rihanna showed up unannounced at his Paris hotel after he’d gone silent. “She walked right in. ‘Yo, you good?’ That really was my friend,” he said.
