Beyoncé surprised fans over the Fourth of July weekend by releasing her first new single in two years. Titled “Morning Dew (Donk),” the song marks her first release since her 2024 album Cowboy Carter and arrives as a special gift to the BeyHive ahead of two major milestones; her 45th birthday and the 20th anniversary of her iconic 2006 album, B’Day.

Released through Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records, “Morning Dew (Donk)” is a smooth R&B track that reunites Beyoncé with longtime collaborators The-Dream, Darius Dixon, and Pharrell Williams. Together, they deliver a nostalgic sound that blends classic 2000s R&B with modern production.

Fans may already be familiar with the song as an unfinished version titled “Donk” leaked online in 2023 and quickly gained attention on TikTok. Originally recorded during the sessions for Beyoncé’s 2013 self-titled album, the final version features updated production, confident lyrics, and a subtle reference to Prince’s classic film, Purple Rain.

Alongside the single, Beyoncé also released a black-and-white lyric video directed by longtime collaborator Cliff Watts. The video features never-before-seen archival footage filmed around the B’Day era, giving fans a nostalgic look back at one of the most celebrated periods of her career.

Parkwood Entertainment has confirmed that “Morning Dew (Donk)” will be included on the upcoming 20th-anniversary edition of B’Day, which is set to be released on September 4. The expanded project is expected to include additional content and previously unreleased material from the era.

While some fans have speculated that the single could hint at Beyoncé’s long-rumoured Act III project, the release appears to be a celebration of B’Day and its lasting impact. With the anniversary edition on the way, fans can look forward to revisiting one of the most influential albums of Beyoncé’s career.
