The whole thing happened at Brown’s home in Tarzana, California. The housekeeper Avila was just taking out the refuse when Hades Brown’s massive 200-pound guard dog attacked her. Chris Brown says the dog wasn’t his personal pet, just a security dog looked after by his team.
What she went through was brutal. Her face and left arm were left with deep scarring, and she had to get skin grafted from her stomach to fix the damage. She says she can’t even work as a housekeeper anymore because she doesn’t have the arm strength for it, and being around any dog now brings the trauma right back.
The gag of it all, that really got people talking was what Chris Brown did after the attack. Instead of staying to help or calling 911 himself, he left and drove around for hours, letting his staff deal with everything. When asked about it in court, he said he didn’t want the call to leak and turn into a “media circus” because of who he is.
His team tried to argue that Avila had been warned about the dog and wasn’t supposed to go outside alone. Avila and her sister Patricia who was also there that day said that conversation never happened, and pointed out that a language barrier would’ve made it unlikely anyway.

In the end, the jury believed Avila. Chris Brown and his company, Black Pyramid LLC, now have to pay her around R 211 million for negligence. Patricia got about R 14.5 million for emotional distress, and Avila’s husband Oscar was awarded roughly R 819,000.
