Earlier this week, Prof. Anele Hammond opened up on TikTok about the life-threatening encounters she has experienced with Standard Bank for years of her life. A financial institution caused an immense amount of terror in this licensed pilot’s life, which nearly resulted in the taking of her life. Let’s start the story from the beginning…

Prof. Anele Hammond decided that she had wanted to buy a new car, and she went to the dealership and once she had found the car that she preferred, she paid for the car in cash. She was told to come and collect the car after two days once the car had been registered. The day to collect the car came, but she ended being told that she had to send the international payment back, as she stayed overseas at the time, and continue the transaction with a local bank. The following day, she received confirmation that Standard Bank has approved the loan.

She proceeded to sign any necessary documents she had to in order to get the car, and at the end of the month, the bank deducted nearly double of the agreed installment. She informed the bank of this error, and they claimed to not know who she is. A month later, they deducted the same amount, and this forced her to fight for her money. Unfortunately, Standard Bank still gave her a hard time.

She decided to stop paying for the car and opened a separate account and deposited the money required. She bought a new car and three months later, the bank wrote a letter registered to her daughter and they stated that she had not paid any installments in three months. She confronted the bank and informed them of all the errors the bank had been occurring. Standard Bank officially declared war on this woman’s life.

Standard Bank took Prof. Hammond to court and applied to repossess her car. Eight months later, the bank provided false documents to slander the professor’s name.
