South African alternative artist D F W N E is set to release his highly anticipated tape, In Her Jazz, on 31 July 2026.
Comprised of nine tracks, In Her Jazz is a deeply personal exploration of womanhood, emotional complexity and appreciation. Inspired by the women who have shaped his life, the project serves as both a reflection and a tribute, acknowledging experiences that, in the artist’s own words, “aren’t built for a man to understand.”
The project brings together a collection of stories that examine the many dimensions of womanhood, from motherhood and friendship to love, resilience and self- discovery. Through collaborations with artists including Kallo, Umzulu Phaqa, Anglo Supastara and Chipego, the tape creates space for women to contribute directly to the narratives that inspired it.
“In Her Jazz represents the beauty and complications of a woman’s feelings which aren’t built for a man to understand,” says D F W N E. “I felt like I needed to appreciate all the women that have contributed to who I am.”
The project’s visual identity further expands on these themes. Recent campaign visuals featured dozens of women dressed in white, symbolising purity, renewal and feminine energy. Together, the music and visuals create a cohesive world centred around community, appreciation and emotional honesty.

Musically, In Her Jazz draws influence from neo-soul, jazz and alternative R&B while maintaining D F W N E’s signature approach to storytelling and experimentation. The project’s lead single, Yimisani Nkarhi, offers listeners their first glimpse into the world of the tape ahead of its release.
Beyond music, In Her Jazz is ultimately an expression of gratitude. It is a project dedicated to the women who have inspired, challenged, supported and shaped the artist throughout his life.
