After years of public speculation, Annie Mthembu has finally confirmed her separation from her husband, Kgolo “Daguru” Mthembu — and in response, Kgolo took to Instagram with a heartfelt public message that has since gone viral.
In a comment under Annie’s post, the Luma Hospitality Group founder expressed deep remorse for the pain he caused during their marriage and offered a final farewell filled with emotion and reflection.
“No matter the personal struggles I was facing, there’s never an excuse for dishonouring God’s blessings,” he wrote.
“I deeply regret the pain I’ve caused you. As the head of the family, I let everyone down.”

He concluded with a powerful line that’s caught public attention: “Annie, from the bottom of my heart, I wish you true love, healing and peace. Farewell Pretty Wings.”
Annie Confirms the Separation
Annie confirmed that she and Kgolo have been separated since December 2022, during her recent interview on Engineer Your Life with Lungelo KM — the same podcast where she had previously defended her marriage amid cheating rumours.
“It’s going to take a lot of time, and in December it will be three years since our separation,” she revealed.
What's your hot take on this story?
In the emotional interview, Annie opened up about the heartbreak of dealing with alleged infidelity and the internal battle she faced trying to maintain a strong public image while suffering privately.
“No one likes to be cheated on. It makes you question yourself — am I enough?”
“Even though I knew he was doing his thing, I still wanted us to be a family.”
From Lavish Wedding to Private Pain
The couple’s love story began in 2016 when Annie worked as Kgolo’s personal assistant. They tied the knot in a luxurious, Gatsby-inspired wedding in 2021 — a celebration that captured headlines.
But behind the scenes, their relationship was quietly unraveling.
Kgolo had previously shared on the Mo and Phindi podcast that The Real Housewives of Durban placed immense strain on their marriage, although he stopped short of attributing their problems solely to the show.
