Mbuso Khoza Launches Mental Wellness NPO Amid Unpaid Fees Dispute

Renowned actor, singer, and cultural activist Mbuso Khoza has taken to social media to open up about his struggles with mental health and his new initiative aimed at tackling issues of anxiety, depression, and suicide. Reflecting on years of battling anxiety, depression, ADD, and suicidal thoughts, Khoza shared how he has been inspired by the young men and women around him who are excelling in various fields. These young individuals have encouraged him to establish a non-profit mental wellness organisation, dedicated to addressing these critical issues.

In his heartfelt post, Khoza revealed the formation of the organisation, which will focus on offering support for those grappling with mental health struggles. “After so many years of struggling, I’ve been encouraged by the youth who are excelling to create a space where we can tackle suicide, anxiety, and depression,” he wrote. “They have committed to running this non-profit organisation, and my role will be to support them in creating opportunities for themselves. What a great blessing.”

He also gave a shout-out to a young boy within the organisation, sharing that the graphic design for his post was created by him. “Even this particular graphic was designed by a young boy within the organisation called Innerpeace,” Khoza added.

While this new venture marks a significant step forward for the artist, it comes on the heels of a public dispute with veteran producer Duma Ndlovu over unpaid fees for music Khoza composed for the hit faith-based telenovela Umkhokha: The Curse. The claim, which dates back to 2021, saw Khoza calling out Ndlovu on Facebook in a now-deleted post, pleading for the overdue payment.

“Duma Ndlovu, please take my call regarding the money you owe me for Umkhokha from 2021 until the last season. I composed many songs for the show. Please, be a man. Boya benyathi,” Khoza wrote, urging the producer to settle the matter.

Khoza, who contributed his musical talents to the show’s spiritually charged soundtrack, claims that despite multiple attempts to resolve the matter privately, he has yet to receive compensation for his creative work. His public plea for justice underscores the frustration many artists face when their contributions go unrecognised or unpaid.

As Khoza continues to navigate these personal and professional challenges, his commitment to mental wellness and his advocacy for fair treatment within the entertainment industry remain at the forefront of his journey.

With the launch of his mental wellness initiative, Khoza is turning his personal struggles into a source of strength, aiming to create opportunities for others while also tackling the complex issues of mental health. Meanwhile, his legal battle with Duma Ndlovu is still ongoing, as he hopes for a fair resolution to the outstanding payment issue.
