At the 2025 Dance World Cup, held in Spain, the country’s Senior and Junior teams didn’t just show up — they took over. According to The Good Things Guy Brent Lindeque, South Africa has now been crowned Overall World Champions in both Junior and Senior Commercial Hip Hop, while also earning a global rank of 4th overall.

But it was one standout performance that truly got social media buzzing — the gold-medal-winning routine by the Senior Large Group from The Mario Gomes Hip Hop Dance Academy. Described as “bold, electric, and powerful,” the set scored a staggering 95.7%, one of the highest scores across the entire competition.

“Yep, you read that right… we are officially the best in the world at Commercial Hip Hop,” Lindeque said in his report.

Friends, we are WINNING at the 2025 Dance World Cup in Spain.

Last year, we finished in 8th place ( 9 Gold, 10 Silver and 9 Bronze medals) and this year we are in 4th position! GLOBALLY.

The performance was more than technical brilliance. As described in a video posted by The Giant of Africa, it was a full-bodied celebration of identity, rhythm, and storytelling. The group brought pantsula precision, amapiano flair, and South African heart to a global stage — and the world felt it. The crowd roared. The judges were stunned. And when the music stopped, SA stood tall at the top of the podium.

This isn’t just a medal — it’s a message. That South African dance doesn’t need to dilute itself to be world-class. That our rhythm, our story, our sound is the global standard. And that when we stay rooted in who we are, we don’t follow trends — we create them.

“They didn’t just dance, they told a story,” The Giant of Africa said. “This is more than a trophy — it’s a cultural mic drop.”
