Summer has an early soundtrack. Earlier this week, Sony launched the ULT TOWER MAX, ULT TOWER 7 and ULT TOWER 5, the latest additions to its ULT POWER SOUND series, at an event for media, influencers and invited guests at Sourcefin in Sandton. The launch reflects South Africa’s rising influence on the global music stage.

Under the theme “Massive Bass. Ultimate Vibe the evening introduced a mix of live music, performances and hands-on demonstrations. As part of the evening, artist Chronical Deep was unveiled as the featured artist, and a pre-recorded film showed him putting the new speakers through their paces. On stage, he talked through his creative process and demonstrated how quickly a DJ setup comes together with ULT speakers.

Chronical Deep, DJ: “Playing music should feel simple. You plug in, press a button and the sound is there, with no mountain of gear between you and the crowd. What stands out about the ULT range is that Sony has listened to what artists need and built it in, from the DJ inputs to the bass that moves a room,”

A panel of music industry voices including DJ/producer Soulfreakah, event and sound entrepreneur DJ Moja TK, and Murat Gebeceli, Marketing Director at Sony Middle East and Africa, discussed South Africa’s global reach. They looked at how Amapiano, Lekompo, House and Bacardi are influencing worldwide trends, and how technology and digital platforms are opening doors to new audiences.

Guests then tested the range themselves, trying 360° Party Sound, the ULT1 and ULT2 bass modes, karaoke, DJ connectivity, Party Chain via Auracast™ and app-controlled lighting.  The evening also featured a cypher challenge headlined by professional dancer and choreographer Leon Andrew Labuschagne, joined by Five6seven8 Dance Studio, while a live beatboxer set the tone for the night.

Murat Gebeceli, Marketing Director at Sony Middle East and Africa: “South African consumers are passionate about music and shared experiences. With the ULT TOWER MAX, ULT TOWER 7 and ULT TOWER 5, we are bringing them powerful bass and immersive sound for any occasion. We also want artists and DJs to spend their energy on the music, so these speakers are quick to set up and ready to perform. We are proud to return with a fresh set of ULT POWER SOUND products just in time for summer,”

The ULT range is tuned to the sounds people here love. The deep, punchy bass of the ULT1 and ULT2 modes gives Amapiano, Lekompo, House and Bacardi the weight they need, while XLR and RCA inputs let DJs plug straight in and play. There is no wall of equipment to carry and no tangled rig to wire up. A single ULT button changes the sound mode, and the Sony Sound Connect app puts control in the artist’s hands.

ULT TOWER MAX: Built for big parties and DJ sets. Three woofers, an upgraded ULT DUCT and a high-powered amplifier deliver massive bass with minimal distortion, while four tweeters and two mid-range speakers keep vocals crisp. Four sound modes (ULT1, ULT2, FLAT, LIVE) and 360° Party Sound adapt to any space. Party Chain via Auracast™ syncs music and lighting across up to 100 speakers, and the splashproof top panel handles spills.

ULT TOWER 7: Versatile power with serious staying power. Switch between ULT1, ULT2, FLAT and LIVE1 modes, with orientation-aware tuning for full sound in any position. Enjoy up to 30 hours of battery life, 180 minutes of playback from a 10-minute charge, and IPX4 water resistance.

ULT TOWER 5: Compact power for smaller gatherings. It packs up to 300 W of power, up to 20 hours of battery life, 100 minutes of playback from a 10-minute charge, IPX4 water resistance and three lighting modes, making it ideal for house parties and braais.

All three accept DJ equipment via XLR and RCA, alongside Bluetooth and USB, and the ULT TOWER MAX and ULT TOWER 5 also support karaoke connections.
