Last December, eight crews took the stage at Constitution Hill with one title on the line. The crew that walked away with it had two members. Crazy Destroyers, Slick Nation and Tsebetsa Boy from Soshanguve and Mabopane, outlasted bigger line-ups all night and beat True Skhanda Movers in the final to be crowned 2025 Red Bull Mzansi Crew Battle champions. “To win Red Bull Mzansi Crew Battle 2025 felt like a dream at first and meant a lot to us because we always dreamt of winning the competition. This year, people should expect Crazy Destroyers to give more energy, new creative styles and Vibes” said Crazy Destroyers member, Tsebetsa Boy in preparation for this years competition.
That result says everything about this competition. Numbers don't win. What you do with the floor does. Now in its third and final year, the battle built around South Africa's own sounds and styles (amapiano, pantsula, sbujwa and everything in between) is back for 2026, and the door is open to every crew in the country.
GET THE VIDEO IN
Online submissions opened on Friday, 23 October and close on Thursday, 5 November. Crews enter by uploading a performance video on social media, then upload the social media link on https://redbull.jotform.com/262872120242045 judges will then select top crews to represent at the National Finals. Crews between sizes of 2 to 6 members and participants of the age of 16 years old and above are eligible to enter.
INTO THE STUDIOS
From Saturday, 31 October to Sunday, 7 November, the competition leaves the stage and goes to where routines are usually built. The studio tour visits Soweto’s Finest Studio on 31 October, Shakers and Movers Dance Academy on 1st November and Mario Gomes Hip Hop Dance Academy on the 7thof November, with dancers and choreographers, The Ninjas, Kananelo, Tebza, Tlhogi and Mzansi Crew Battle defending champions, Crazy Destroyers stepping into rehearsal rooms to train alongside the crews chasing this year's title.
TWO DAYS IN JOHANNESBURG
It all comes down to one weekend. The Gauteng Qualifier on Saturday, 14 November at The Playground, Braamfontein decides which crews make the cut. Twenty-four hours later, on Sunday, 15 November, the SA National Final crowns the 2026 champions back at The Playground, Braamfontein.
Last year's battles ran across three rounds: a choreographed showcase, freestyle battles to local hits, and the 50/50 round, where losing a round cost a crew half its members. Judges scored creativity, execution, style and crowd connection with the crowd also having a say by voting for their favourite.
The title has changed hands once already. Untouchable Entertainment won the first edition in 2024, then came back to the 2025 National Final as defending champions and watched a two-man crew take it from the field. In 2026 the question is the same as ever: who owns the floor?
