Affectionately known as Bouga Luv, the former TKZee star last released his solo project Immortal Vol. 3 in 2015. His latest offering marks a significant return to music and serves as the lead single from his upcoming tenth studio album, For King and Country.

Recorded between Johannesburg and Los Angeles, the song introduces what Mabalane describes as “Street Psalms”, a sound that brings together his kwaito roots, contemporary worship, urban soul and the influence of pop-rock duo The Arrows.

The track reflects the different worlds Mabalane has occupied over the years, from music and township culture to ministry, family life and business.

Speaking about his return, Mabalane explained that stepping away from music allowed him to focus on his ministry, family and advocacy work. However, he eventually realised that returning to music meant creating from a place of authenticity, rather than separating his faith from his artistry.

For Mabalane, the new chapter isn’t about choosing between being a musician and a pastor. Instead, For King and Country aims to bring both sides of his identity together through music that carries messages of faith, purpose and lived experience without losing the rhythm and energy that made him a household name.

Ahead of the single’s release, Mabalane joined veteran broadcaster Tbo Touch for an exclusive conversation and first-listen track drop, giving fans a glimpse into the inspiration behind his long-awaited comeback.

“Everybody Needs Somebody” is now available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer.

With For King and Country set to follow in the coming months, Mabalane appears ready to introduce a new generation to his sound while giving longtime fans a fresh take on the artist they have known for decades.
