Movie about Oscar Pistorius angers Reeva Steenkamp’s parents!

While a film company thought it was best to do a movie about the tragic incident of Oscar Pistorius and Reeva Steenkam (R.I.P), little did they know that it was going to receive major backlash from the Steenkamp family.

The movie trailer has angered Reeva Steenkamp’s parents for its depiction of their daughter, who was killed by the athlete on Valentine’s Day in 2013.

The company that produced the film Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer has admitted the production doesn’t have the endorsement of the Pistorius and Steenkamp families.

The Pistorius family has threated legal action against producers A&E Networks.

The company’s Africa general manager Yusuf Nabee says: “We’ve noted comments made in the media from the families. We have not received any direct correspondence from the families.”

The movie will be released in the US in November and the South African broadcast date will be confirmed soon.

Earlier this week, the Pistorius family indicated they would take legal action against the filmmakers, while the Steenkamp family released a statement.

“They are horrified and upset to read a report that ‘the movie is told from Steenkamp and her mother’s perspective’. June Steenkamp was not approached by Lifetime to participate, comment or be part of the making of the film, and did not give the producers any assistance. Any impression that is created that this is June’s view, or that the movie is endorsed by the Steenkamp family, is untrue and incorrect,” the statement reads.
