The case against Cindy Manqele, the woman accused of stabbing musician Nkululeko ‘Flabba' Habedi to death has been postponed to give the accused time to seek medical attention
Murder-accused Cindy Manqele appeared in court dressed in a hoodie, black T-shirt and leggings. She told a packed court she had sustained bruises and stab wounds to her arms and stomach.
On the instruction of her lawyer, she removed the hoodie to show the court her injuries.
Through her lawyer, Manqele told the court she was in great pain. The magistrate agreed to her being examined by a private doctor
The case against the 26-year-old has now been postponed to 16 March.
According to EyeWitness News disgruntled members of the Alexandra community were heard chanting: “No bail” as they accosted Manqele’s friends and family. At one point community members are said to have banged on a car belonging to a family member, while chanting “family of killers”.
In the early hours of Monday, police were called to Habedi’s Alexandra home to find the 38-year-old musician had been killed.
“The deceased was found to have been stabbed to death. The suspect was arrested on the scene,” spokeswoman Lt-Col Katlego Mogale said.
Family spokesman Tshepang Habedi said on Monday that his brother had been stabbed once in the heart.
