Just two days after her husband, René Angélil, lost his battle with cancer, Céline Dion has suffered yet another family tragedy. The Canadian singer's brother, Daniel Dion died of cancer on Saturday.
Dion's sister, Claudette, confirmed the sad news to Le Journal de Montréal and revealed that the 59-year-old Daniel passed away at 5 a.m. on Saturday morning, surrounded by his mother and the rest of his family.
"He was ready and he no longer suffers," Claudette told the newspaper. "It was serene."
Daniel, who was one of Dion's 13 siblings, reportedly had only hours to live when news broke earlier last week of his ailing health. He had been fighting brain, tongue, and throat cancer and was spending his last days with family in Montréal.
It’s been a difficult week as Dion's 73-year-old husband, and father of her three children, pass away from throat cancer on Thursday.
