Sadio Mane reveals reasons why he dumped Liverpool for Bayern Munich

Liverpool star Sadio Mane has joined German giants Bayern Munich and has shared reasons and what influenced his decision to leave Anfield Stadium.

The Reds hitman is said to have completed his medical and he is set to be officially unveiled by the Bavarians this week.

Mane’s switch to the German Bundesliga pulls down the curtain to a glittering six-year stint at Anfield which has seen him lift almost every honour available to him.

The Mirror suggests that the Senegalese had 12 months remaining on his current contract, but the 30-year-old made it clear that he was seeking a move.

Speaking to German media, Mane said he was impressed by the Bundesliga champions’ project and didn’t think twice to join the side.

“When my agent first told me about Bayern’s interest, I was immediately excited,” Mane told BILD.

“I saw myself there right away. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world and the team is always fighting for every title. So for me, it was a very good idea and the right decision to come here.

“My agent told me that there were enquiries from other clubs. That’s part of the business. But I got the feeling right away when Bayern presented their plan to me. I found myself in Bayern’s plan more than anyone else.”

The nippy and agile Lions of Teranga skipper hopes to lift yet another UEFA Champions League trophy with Bayern.

The departure has left a sour taste on many Liverpool fans as the star played his last game for the side when they lost 1-0 to reigning European champions, Real Madrid last month.

“I don’t want to say no. Every kid wants to win the Champions League, every football player in the world. I’m with a very, very competitive team now,” he added.

“But it’s still a bit early to talk about the Champions League final, we haven’t even played a game together yet. Nevertheless, we will give everything to get into the final.”

Meanwhile, the Bavarians are reportedly set to lose Robert Lewandowski who is heavily linked with a move to FC Barcelona but English Premier League outfit, Chelsea, are also gunning for his signature.
