Leon Schuster drops new Springboks song from a hospital bed

Even though the great Leon Schuster is laying in a hospital bed in recovery from a back operation, he hasn’t let that keep him from cracking jokes and even showing his support to the Springboks.

In the recent years, the comedian and actor has kept a low profile, but the people closer to him say he is actually busy working on new material, which includes a new song for the national team ahead of the Rugby World Cup next month.

Titled Bokmasjien, the song was officially released on Friday, 25 August. A social media post by friend Rene Stokes revealed that Schuster is currently recovering from a back operation in a Pretoria hospital. The 72-year-old actor sustained the injury while filming the 2022 movie Mr Bones 3 and Stokes says years of being “bliksemmed” by the public took a toll on Schuster.

In a recent video that went viral that Schuster posted on Facebook, he sent a message of support to the Springboks ahead of their clash against the All Blacks on Friday. The Boks emerged as the victors after beating their rugby rivals 37-5.

The new song by Leon Schuster dropped just three weeks before the Springboks take on the Rugby World Cup in France from 8th of September to 28th of October. It will be on the 10th of September that South Africa will be playing their first match against Scotland.

Sister Bethina hitmaker Mgarimbe also released his catchy track Amabokoboko or Sister Bokkina recently in support for the rugby national team.
