Nadia Nakai apologises calling out Hip-Hop DJs for not playing local songs

The South African rapper, Nadia Nakai has taken a step back after what seems to have been some reflection and inspection, and she has apologized for calling out local DJs.

The multi-award-winning musician took to her social media to apologise for calling out hip-hop DJs, particularly DJ Milkshake, for not playing local artists’ music on their sets. The ‘Naaa Meaan’ hitmaker wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “I’m sorry for calling out Milkshake. The reason I did that was because I was with him while he was playing at Members (an exclusive club in Johannesburg) when I asked him like I always do,”

Adding to her apology, she went on to add: “If I hurt you, I’m sorry, bro! Buuuut it still doesn’t change the fact that I’m not hearing new hip-hop drops. [sic]”

It was during the long weekend when Nakai lambasted local hip-hop DJs for playing older songs more than newer releases. On her Instagram stories, she wrote: “I’m so sick of you hip hop deejays!!! I’m actually dropping hip-hop joints, and you don’t play the shit! Used to fight D about it, too!!! @djmilkshake, I’m talking about you!! Mxm, how many times you gonna play all I do is win! [sic]”

However, she said DJ Ayanda MVP was exempt as she “really” did support new hip-hop releases.

“I know @djddoubled sent you the DJ pack! Mxm! Maybe the piano DJs love each other more? Cos I’ve been fighting the hip hop dj[s] for years!!!!! Even for Naaa Meaan! That bitch got a plaque!” she continued. “Mxm, I’m tired! Fok! All of y’all!!! Do better! [sic]”
