‘When Love Kills’: The AKA and Anele Tembe love story turned into a book

South Africa’s late music icon, AKA, and his late fiancée Anele Tembe’s dramatic love story will be the focus of an upcoming book by renowned author Melinda Ferguson.

Known for her compelling crime books like ‘The Kelly Khumalo Story’ and ‘Oscar: An Accident Waiting To Happen,’ co-written with Patricia Taylor, Ferguson’s new book, titled ‘When Love Kills: The Tragic Tale Of AKA And Anele,’ will delve into the heartbreaking saga of their relationship.

“I have never worked harder on a book. I have never been more freaked out by a story,” Ferguson shared on her Facebook page. “It’s been a real journey to get this out. It nearly killed my own relationship. It’s a story that broke my heart.”

The author shared that she spoke with both AKA’s and Tembe’s families while crafting the book. Anele tragically passed away in March 2021 after falling from the 10th floor of the Pepper Club Hotel. AKA, whose real name is Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, was later fatally shot in Durban alongside his former manager Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane.

‘When Love Kills: The Tragic Tale Of AKA And Anele’ will be available for R320 starting next Wednesday.
