Controversial South African broadcaster Gareth Cliff woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. Cliff has received backlash against his recent comments comparing government Minister Naledi Pandor to a “turd.”
Cliff came under fire on social media for the inflammatory remarks, but appears unfazed by the criticism. In an Instagram response, he stated he has more provocative statements in store and does not care if people are upset or offended.
According to Cliff, he is not required to be polite or tiptoe around others’ sensitivities. Looking ahead to 2024, he expects to care even less about public reaction to his polarizing stances.
Cliff added that he takes no issue with being labelled racist or Islamophobic, claiming only he can know his true beliefs. He expressed self-satisfaction and disinterest in strangers’ perceptions of him.
The radio host’s defiant response signals he will not apologize for or retract his comments about Minister Pandor. Instead, Cliff implies he will continue making controversial statements without concern for the offense caused.
