South African television personality, rapper, actress, businesswoman and model, Boitumelo ‘Boity’ Thulo’s perfumes, Boity Pink Sapphire Eau de Parfum, has made headlines after a drastic price drop.
Back in 2020, Boity teamed up with Halo Heritage to launch her fragrance line, Boity Pink Sapphire Eau de Parfum, priced at R1,495 for a 100ml bottle.
Fast forward to today, social media has discovered the same perfume is now selling for a R60.
Social media user Aphelele Jody posted a picture of the perfumes and wrote: “This Boity perfume moved from R595 to R60. I wish she could have promoted it more like how Bonang promotes BNG and engages with her clients on the timeline,” Aphelele Jody wrote.
The image quickly spread across social media and found its way onto Maphepha Ndaba, a gossip blog where Boity opened up about the challenges her perfume line has faced.
“The business failed. Very disappointing. Life happened. But we try again and keep moving forward,” Boity said.
Netizens offered some comforting words to Boity:
A user commented: “She tried, big up to her. I hope she saves the business; there’s nothing wrong with lowering prices. Sales are what matters. It’s not easy being an entrepreneur, even worse when you’re black and female.”
Another user said “Its commendable how alot of these go from failed business project to another failed project but always land on their feet somehow.
Another pisotove comment: “There is no FAILURE, only FEEDBACK from which we learn and grow.”
In addition to her perfume venture, Boity is a savvy entrepreneur with other successful businesses under her belt. She introduced her alcohol brand, BT Signature, to the market in March 2021.
Furthermore, she offers an exclusive line of hair care products, Boity Haircare, tailored for women with hair types 3 and 4. Boity’s passion for celebrating natural beauty aligns perfectly with the current trend of black women embracing their natural hair. She understands the journey many black women undergo in learning to love and care for their natural hair.
Boity’s collaboration with Halo Heritage is a testament to her commitment to empowering modern African women.
