As previously reported by our gossip team, kgomotso Christopher is set to make her first debut on Scandal! from Wednesday the 30th June, where she will star as Naledi’s (played by Dineo Moeketsi) alienated mother, Yvonne.
Although that sounds exciting, Kgomotso admits that it took more than a nail and tooth to make sure that she fitted the role, unlike in other soapies.
"A day before shooting the drama, Scandal! was looking for someone for a new role. They weren’t sure if I would be interested as I had just left a soapie. As soon as I saw the character bible, I went back and said, 'I don’t think it’s going to work.' So I actually turned it down," she told Tonight.
Kgomotso, who is better known as ‘’Katlego’’ (in Isidingo) reveals how concerned she was with the age of the character compared to hers in real life.
"Katlego (her character on Isidingo) was already a bit older than I was. Yvonne is even older than her. I thought they were reaching here," she explained.
But worry no more, because Kgomotso and the Scandal! team decided to go back to the drawing board and spice-up a few details to make her character a bit more believable, not to mention suitable.
Looking forward to her new character, Kgomotso told fans to be patient with the new Yvonne as she slowly warms up to her character.
"We discover Yvonne in increments. That is how we are introducing the character," she teased.
