Reports are doing the rounds about The SAMAs (South African Music Awards) committee planning to disqualify singer, producer and song writer Robbie Malinga’s album titled Robbie Malinga because it “doesn’t meet the prerequisite.”
Talking to Sunday World, a SAMA’s committee member who did not want to be named revealed that Robbie’s album “doesn’t meet the prerequisite as such albums are, as per the set-out and standing rules, considered to be compilation albums. It is therefore supposed to be disqualified. It was not even supposed to have been nominated in the first place.”
The committee’s final decision on the matter is expected to take place before the event is held at Sun City on May 26.
When contacted, Robbie did not have any comment and directed any queries prior to the matter to RiSA [Recording Industry of SA] since they are responsible for those decisions.
