Netflix is set to premiere the ‘Murder Of A Soccer Star’ documentary, the story of Senzo Meyiwa which is said to be reimagined through a five-part docu-series.
It has been over 7 years since Meyiwa’s passing.
Meyiwa was killed in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, while visiting his singer and actress girlfriend Kelly Khumalo in 2014 on October 26, 2014.
It is reported that eyewitnesses claimed two men entered the house on October 26 and demanded cellphones before shooting Meyiwa.
Months leading up to his death, Meyiwa was a national rising star, who was in the best form of his life for both club and country.
The sad news of his passing was felt throughout the whole country.
The docu-series is directed by Sara Blecher and executively produced by Thandi Davids, Neil Brandt and Tendeka Matatu.
Netflix took to Twitter to make the announcement in a post captioned, “Once a legend, always a legend, A Netflix Documentary Series Senzo: Murder of a Soccer Star premieres 7 April, only on Netflix.”
On the 17th of March, four of the accused Muzikawukhulelwa Sthemba Sibiya (34), Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi (30), Mthobisi Prince Ncube (36) and Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphisa (35) made another appearance at the Pretoria High Court for an enquiry with their new legal representation.
Meyiwa’s murder trial is set to continue on the 11th of Apri
