The cat is out of the bag folks! Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia are ending their marriage, more than a year after exchanging vows.

The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star filed for divorce from Guobadia in Atlanta on Thursday, as per court documents obtained by PEOPLE magazine.

While rumors circulate online regarding Guobadia’s citizenship status, a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE that the divorce is not related to recent allegations involving Simon’s past.

The reason behind their split is described as an “ongoing matter,” according to the insider.

Williams, 42, and Guobadia, 59, said their vows in November 2022 in a Nigerian traditional ceremony followed by an American ceremony in Atlanta.

Their engagement was announced in May 2021, just one month after they began dating. “Yes we are crazy in love,” Williams captioned a photo with Guobadia. “I know it’s fast but we are living life each day to its fullest. I choose happiness every morning and every night.”

Guobadia shared similar sentiments, stating that he proposed because they fulfilled each other’s criteria and more.

Earlier this month, the reality star-turned-entrepreneur, who shares 4-year-old daughter Pilar from a previous relationship, revealed her return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta for its sixteenth season, after a two-year hiatus from the Bravo series.

She also secured an overall scripted deal with NBCUniversal, which involves scripted project opportunities across the company’s broadcast and streaming platforms.

“I’m incredibly thankful for the vision and faith NBCUniversal has put in me to be a larger part of their family,” she stated. “I’m looking forward to being back on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and showing the world my new world!”

Williams initially joined RHOA in its fifth season and appeared alongside Guobadia on the Real Housewives spinoff Porsha’s Family Matters in 2021.

She was last seen in the third season of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, which aired last year.
