British artist, Ed Sheeran now has a valid reason to take some time off from the limelight after his face got injured during a royal prank that went terribly wrong.
The Thinking Out Loud hitmaker was reportedly rushed to hospital to get stitches for a cut on his face after Princess Beatrice cut him while trying to knight James Blunt.
According to sources, the incident occurred during a dinner party hosted by the British royal house who had public figures like Ed, his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, James Blunt and his wife Sofia Wellesley as guests.
During an idle conversation, James reportedly joked that he would love to be knighted, and Princess Beatrice played along by fetching a ceremonial sword to do the deed, and that’s when tragedy struck.
Instead of tapping the sword on James’ shoulders, Beatrice swung it over her head and injured Ed, who was standing behind her. Following the incident, Ed was rushed to hospital to have the cut stitched.
