Although Top Billing is famous for its prestigious settings that include luxurious mansions, holiday destinations, and celebrity guest-lists, shocking rumours of the show allegedly not paying its presenters have been doing the rounds and we are quite puzzled.
[So, if I’m watching Top Billing and all I can think about is money, does that mean I won’t get that money because the presenters are allegedly not getting paid?]
According to reports, Top Billing presenters have allegedly been putting in all the effort on free mode, this also includes a few other SABC productions as well.
Apparently, new shows are being commissioned but cash flow in the SABC continues to be a bit of an issue. It’s also rumoured that the broadcaster is considering cutting a few shows out in order to stabilize the financial crisis.
Although the likes of Ayanda Thabethe are doing an exceptional job on the show, we couldn’t help but notice Bonang’s absence on the show. Apparently, Bonang hasn’t left Top Billing but she won’t be on the show as often as we used to see her, is this somehow a confirmation that the rumours are true?
Thankfully, just like Bonang and Thando Thabethe, all the other Top Billing presenters have multiple streams of income coming their way so one less pay check shouldn’t be that much of a problem. But then again, everyone wants to get paid for their hard work right?
