Late gospel singer Sfiso Ncwane’s son Mawenza seems to be the next star in his family as he has already landed his first role in a film.
Earlier this year, the 12-year-old made his acting debut in a Mzansi Magic TV film called Red Candle.
In Red Candle, Mawenza portrays the role of Jack Junior, the son of Jackson Mthembu, an investment analyst who runs a successful company, who runs into some trouble and stands to lose everything.
Speaking to Daily Sun, director and producer Ndaba Ka Ngwane, confirmed that the young Ncwane was cast based on his talent.
“He did a self-tape audition and we cast him based on his talent. He proved to be a gifted boy and taking him was very easy,” Ndaba told the publication.
The young actor in an Instagram Live Q&A this week, explained to his fans how he landed the role and just like all aspiring actors he had to go through the audition process.
“I went to an agency so I started doing tryouts for the movie I shot and also I was in a Clientele ad.”
