According to Move magazine, Zondo knew the woman and led a serious relationship with her.

The weekly also reports that the woman is a teacher who began bribing Zondo with the video shortly after she filmed it. She apparently demanded R100, 000 and when Zondo failed to fork out the sum, she threatened to post it on social networks.

"When Zondo could not stand the teacher's threats anymore, he threatened to report her to the police," a source told Move.

The woman, who is said to be heavily indebted, then sent the video to Zondo's adversaries who also tried to blackmail him to no avail.
