The road to Hollywoodbets Greyville is paved in proverbial purple as fillies, fashionistas and friends ready themselves for Africa’s greatest horse-racing event, the Hollywoodbets Durban July on Saturday, 2 July 2022, at Greyville in Durban.
Besides the fashion, marquees and A-listers flexing their wealth, when we think of Durban July – the first jawdropper we think about is a convoy.
Just like us, when we see ”convoy” we automatically remember the 2019 famous Durban July convoy by Sam Mshengu.
Just to refresh your memory, in 2019, social media exploded with snaking images of luxury cars, with one Sam Mshengu, better known as ‘Sam Holdings’, stealing the spotlight.
Fast-forward, Sam got embroiled in a fraud scandal and was arrested, leaving us ”convoy-less” and searching for the next A-lister to give us something to tweet about.
Looking at 2022, the only people we know who can break the Sam Holdings convoy record are our local celebrities.
South African celebrities love luxury brands and this extends to whips. If you follow our local celebrities on social media you might have noticed how many of them are car lovers. From Cassper Nyovest’s fleet of incredible toys including a McLaren GT, Bentley Continental GT, and a Mansory Rolls-Royce to Amanda Du Pont’s love for Rolls-Royce and Bugatti.

Our chairperson, weve seen how much of a car fanatic he is and we have no doubt that if Cassper gets stuck on the way, Andile Mpisane will be first in line to pull up on his gold McLaren as well and lead the convoy. Andile has a fleet of cars alongside his wealthy mother Shauwn Mkhize. The rest of the cars they own can probably be driven by Shaun The Stylist and the Royal AM team. We don’t mind, let’s Go!

She just got a boob job, of course we want to see her on the convoy flexing not only those sexy pair of dairies, but her luxurious car as well!

Khanyi Mbau
The first female celebrity to bring a Lamborghini in the hood! Khanyi is the life of the party, the queen of class, and of course, the first lady of flashy sports cars. Imagine if she brought along that yellow Porsche she owns and a couple of champagne bottles for the road… Ouch!
