Senegalese star Sadio mane upholds his Muslim values by refusing to hold a glass of beer in Bayern Munich’s sponsored team photo. 

Every year, Bayern Munich football club holds their traditional beer photo shoot, and all players must hold a beer during the photo shoot unless they choose not to for personal reasons. 
Senegal national team star Sadio Mane chose not to hold a beer during the photoshoot as a devoted Muslim, and he looks so happy in the picture. 

The photoshoot featured all members of the Bayern Munich first team in traditional German outfits called Lederhosen, posing in orderly sitting and standing positions. 

All but two of the 31 players in the team photoshoot was holding a tall glass of Paulaner beer each, most notably Sadio Mane. 

Mane was one of seven players sitting in front but while the other six could be seen visibly holding up their glasses of beer, the Senegalese forward was with his hands down held together. 

Notably, radio Mane is an openly practicing Muslim, and his religion forbids the consumption or association with alcohol of any form which is presumably why he was without a beer in the photo. 

In February after winning the Carabao Cup with Liverpool, Mane had politely asked teammate Takumi Minamino to not spray champagne while standing next to him during the celebrations, Minamino immediately put the bottle of champagne down at his teammate’s request, and the duo continued to celebrate with the rest of the team. 

Bayern Munich have sponsorship deals with Paulaner which is a German brewery, established in 1634 in Munich. Both Munich-based institutions have established a relationship over the years and the annual photoshoot is one of the ways they celebrate their alliance.  

While Sadio Mane was not the only Bayern player not holding a beer as Noussair Mazraoui also chose to pose without alcohol.
