The pop star, Tyla has broken Master KG’s record for most monthly listeners for a South African artist in Spotify history with her hit single ‘Water’.

According reports, Tyla’s single ‘Water’ is the highest charting song by a South African artist since Master KG’s Jerusalema. The song broke into Spotify’s top 40 global playlist and has been streamed for over 40 million times.

The 21-year-old’s song became number 82 on the Apple Music US chart when it started, but it is currently at number 65, above the likes of SZA and Lil Baby. After she broke into stardom, Tyla Laura Seethal signed a recording contract with Epic Records through a joint venture with Fax Records in the United States.

Master KG took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate Tyla following reports that her hit song Water dethroned Jerusalema.

The superstar, Tyla took to her Instagram page to share her first TV appearance performing the hit song.
