TODAY is Christmas Day and families around the country are gathering to enjoy this once-in-a-year religious day together.

Our local celebs are also in high spirits of Christmas and have since revealed to Daily Sun that they are headed home to spend time with their families.

Manaka Ranaka, who plays Lucy on Generations: The Legacy, said she was planning a relaxed Christmas because her schedule was very hectic.

“I normally spend Christmas Day with my family,” she said.

“I enjoy my mum’s cooking.

“She often prepares a leg of lamb, but I’m hoping for a braai this time.”

Socialite Zodwa Wabantu said she usually spent Christmas with her son, but this year she will be on the road.

“My son and I normally go to church in the morning and have a  traditional meal in the afternoon.”

DJ Mahoota said he will spend time with his family before rushing off to four events.

“I will meet with my family for a big lunch,” said Mahoota.

“We are a big family, so we often prepare huge meals to accommodate everyone.”

Dancer and actress Bontle Modiselle said she often spends time with her family on Christmas Day.

“I don’t spend much time at home because of work, so I don’t compromise on Christmas Day,” she said.

“I want to be with my family, especially my mum.”

Bontle said they will prepare a mix of African and Indian food.

She said she wasn’t expecting gifts. She prefers experiences.

Gospel singer Winnie Mashaba said she would be going to church with her family.

“When we come back we will eat lunch together,” she said.

“We often don’t prepare fancy food.

“It’s either a braai or something.”
