In the early wee hours of 30 June 2017, Jay-Z released his 13th studio album, 4:44. The album is currently a Tidal exclusive, and fans have taken to social media to express their first impressions on all 10 tracks. But one in particular has caught people’s attention, in fact, it has sparked some nasty rumours.
“Family Feud,” the sixth song on the album, features none other than Mrs Carter herself, providing some extra Beyoncé-style gravitas to the track. Given the name, you might expect a light-hearted song about the struggles of raising a family together under the harsh spotlight of fame. But one section of the lyrics seems to directly address the rumours of infidelity (and then forgiveness) that were tied to Beyoncé’s monster fifth album Lemonade.
The lyrics in question go:
“Yeah, I’ll fuck up a good thing if you let me / Let me alone, Becky”
Twitter can take it away from there.
