Nomfundo Moh delighted to reap rewards in her music career

After performing at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival in England, Nomfundo Moh is delighted to receive international recognition and rewards.

The KwaZulu-Natal singer, born Nomfundo Ngcobo, is also a songwriter famed for Phakade Lam hit, says she is living her dream as far as her achievements are concerned.

Moh once sang about living a soft life and it seems her dream is coming to reality as she shared the global platform with top musicians such as Lebanese-British musician Mika.

Besides taking to the stage with award-winning musicians, she also received plaques as a pinnacle of her musical success, but her milestone is economic freedom.

Entertainment SA understands that Nomfundo was bestowed with gold and platinum plaques for her record-breaking songs from her commercially successful debut album Amagama.

Her top hit Phakade Lami has gone 6 x platinum, while Soft Life has been certified 3 x platinum – on top of that, her Ngam’khetha and Lilizela have both claimed gold statuses.

“To say I am excited is an understatement because this recognition is more like a dream coming true,” she said per SowetanLIVE.

“I’m very grateful for the international reception my music has been receiving. The past two to three years have been more of a rollercoaster ride that I never thought I’d be on. However, it has all been worth it.

“With my music career so far, I am able to afford things that I want. I have my own car. I can provide for my family…I also got to buy my mother a house, which brings me joy. I am glad that I can see the rewards of my hard work.”

Speaking about her most recent offering, the 23-year-old believes it will evoke nostalgia to her fans for many years to come.

“When I wrote Amagama, I had my family, friends, supporters and God in mind. I was merely saying to them that I have no words to describe how thankful I am for their support with the songs on the album,” she said.

She concluded that she wanted to thank those who had been with her even before she was famous.
