If there’s one thing we could learn from German carmaker, BMW, it’s to eliminate all and every threat of competition by being class leading and performance leading. With that said, we have to compliment them on their latest edition M5, which comes with a powerful Twin Power turbo 4.4-liter V8 under the hood that puts out 560hp and some 680Nm of torque.
However, what makes the Competition Edition (limited to 200 models) really stand out is the engine that delivers 600hp (that's 20hp more than a Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2) and 20Nm more torque. Converting that into kilometres, translates to a 0-100km/h time of 3.9 seconds, and because the car includes a dual-clutch transmission as standard, it’ll be all about who can handle the tight bends and turns better.
BMW has dropped the Competition Edition's ride height by 10mm, firmed up the springs, dampers and stabilizers, tweaked the Active M differential and reconfigured the power steering so that drivers will find cornering at high speeds, as easy as A-B-C.
This limited Edition is designated to sit on special 20-inch twin-spoke alloy wheels with jet black detailing, which can either come in a special Carbon Black or Mineral White paint finish (100 examples of each), not to mention that the body plays on a number of carbon aerodynamic elements such as the rear diffuser.
The interior includes full merino black leather trim with contrasting white stitching and Alcantara floor mats. Other special touches in this edition include a 1200-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system as standard, a Head Up display, a number of active safety features including lane departure warning and carbon ceramic brakes.
For a whopping R1, 964, 500 (€129,500) this limited edition beast from Beemer could be your next ride.
