After 2-full-years of pushing Nick Cannon to settle their divorce, Mariah Carey has reportedly finalized her divorce so she could marry her new partner James Packer, to whom she got engaged in January (2016).
According to TMZ.com, Cannon finally signed off the divorce papers, settling on a pre-nuptial agreement that apparently makes property settlement straightforward.
“She gets what she earned during the marriage, and he keeps what he earned,” the website states.
News of the couple’s split comes after she hit headlines late last month (October 2016), with reports alleging that she had split from Australian billionaire, James Packer.
On trying to set the record straight, Mariah’s spokesperson released a statement that states that the couple has decided to take some time apart instead of calling it quits.
“Mariah and James had a fight in Greece, and have not seen each other since,” a statement issued to Entertainment Tonight said. “The fight was not because of any cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah. James is one of the most successful businessmen in the world.”
The statement continued, “They are trying to work it out. Right now, they’re not sure if they will stay together. They are discussing it, and plan to release an official statement together about their future.”
We had high-hopes that the couple would soon be getting hitched after Packer proposed to Carey with a massive 35-carat diamond ring during a private dinner in New York in January (2016), let’s hope our dream of them tying the knot will come true, she deserves it.
