Twitter was in shambles yesterday as South Africa’s golden voice has been confirmed dead.

Remember Thami the singer and Idols runner up, the guy who won South Africa’s hearts with his golden voice. His record label Gallo confirmed that he died yesterday.

It was confirmed that the songbird died at Kalafong hospital in Pretoria on Thursday morning.

“It came to our attention this morning that he was in hospital suffering from an illness and complications. The general manager of Gallo records said.

The distressed manager continued: “Gallo Record Company is extremely saddened and shocked to learn of the sudden passing of one of our artists Simphiwe Thamsanqa Shobede, fondly know as Thami,”

Reports have it that he passed away in Atteridgeville hospital sometime before noon.

The young soul was 31 years of age at the time of death.

Privacy has been requested by the family surrounding his death until they release a formal statement.
