Heyneke Meyer resigns as Springbok Coach

The South African Rugby Union (Saru) said in a statement on Thursday that Meyer "no longer wished to be considered as a candidate to coach the Springboks".

Meyer has come under fire from all quarters for a poor 2015 season where the South Africans suffered their first defeat to Argentina in Durban, and were humiliated in losing out to Japan 34-32 in their World Cup opening game in Brighton.

Saru's General Council are scheduled to meet on December 11 to decide who the next Bok coach should be following the team's failure to win the Rugby World Cup in the UK in October.

Our Entertainment SA wishes Heyneke Meyer all the best with his future endeavours and we applaud him for the good work he has done coaching our South African rugby team.
