[SEE] How SA celebrities commemorated Women’s Day

SA celebrities, sports teams and politicians came out in numbers to wish all the beautiful women of South Africa a happy Women’s Day.

The National Women’s Day is a special day which has been set aside to celebrate the great women’s march that took place in 1956. On that today, it was recorded that about 20,000 women marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria while petitioning the law that was passed in the country. The law required South Africans who are defined as black to carry an internal passport. After the first celebration of this day took place on the 9th of August, 1995, it has since become a notable date celebrated every year.

Mzansi saw amazing and powerful messages so many have shared to commemorate this truly inspiring day. Women today would not be as they are if it were not for the brave women of 1956. If it was not for the women who took to the streets on this day in 1956, Bonang Matheba wouldn’t be the boss babe that she is, Boity Thulo’s influence wouldn’t exist and Pearl Thusi wouldn’t have been able to conquer all that she has. Today we celebrate our women, their struggles, achievements and all that they are. Here are just some of the amazing posts made by Mzansi celebrities, sports teams and politicians in celebration of Women’s Day:
