AKA Shares Desire To Be An Idols Judge

Idols SA is South Africa’s longest-running singing competition. It has outlasted Coca-Cola Popstars, The Voice, and South Africa’s Got Talent.Even if the runs of the previous series were combined, Idols SA would have a longer run.

As a result, while the announcement that the forthcoming 19th season will be the final one sparked outrage among fans, it came as no surprise. This is due to the abrupt shift of judges, since initial season one judge Randal Abrahams did not return, as did long-standing judge Unathi Nkayi.

The departures of the two judges signalled the beginning of the end, since Somizi was regarded the numbers puller. However, for many showgoers, Abrahams and Nkayi’s regularity was reassuring. As the programme nears its conclusion, ZAlebs are speaking up about their hopes of becoming a judge on the show.

AKA shares his dream of being an Idols judge

Kiernan “AKA” Forbes is now preparing to release his fifth solo studio album, Mass Country. With his previous singles failing to make a notable effect as the countdown to the actual album releases heats up, it appears like AKA is resorting to his former approach, which is to rely on tweeting to build up interest.

As a result, his most recent tweet expressed his desire to be an Idols SA judge before the show’s finish. AKA did, however, emphasise that having a place at the judging table would merely be an addition to his previously established judging portfolio.

AKA has previously served as the presiding judge on the formerly popular but now defunct Hip-Hop musical act reality competitions The Hustle and Flow and Master of Rhythm. As a result, the celebrated Hip-Hop legend would not have been out of place as a judge on Idols SA.

AKA’s comments are in response to the ongoing social media discussion about whether or not Idols SA has produced superstars. A controversy sparked by Y.FM veteran DJ Ankletap, who turned to Twitter to express his unhappiness at the news, reportedly urging that the show be cancelled.

However, there was some speculation that Ankletap is simply ignorant. This comes after comments mentioned Shekhinah and Amanda Black as stars who emerged from the performance.

When Ankletap said that they weren’t winners. Names such as Yanga and Musa were tossed into the mix. However, it appears that between his followers and himself, Ankletap was unable to adequately describe what he perceived as “superstars” with enough pull for him to confirm that they were, in fact, superstars.
